The Bath & Brush is for dogs whose coats don't need cutting. They need cleaning, drying, and getting the loose undercoat out. Labs, goldens, huskies, shepherds, beagles, pit mixes, corgis, and most short-coated dogs live in this appointment.
It is not a quick rinse. Your dog is washed with premium shampoo, conditioned, properly blow-dried, brushed and de-shed, and gets nails ground, ears and eyes cleaned, glands expressed, and a sanitary trim.

Why the blow-dry matters in Houston
A dog that gets bathed and then air-dries in this climate stays damp down at the skin for hours. That's how a coat ends up smelling bad again three days later, and on a thick double coat it's also how the undercoat gets packed down.
Getting a coat fully dried and blown out is most of the work in a Bath & Brush, and it's the part that's genuinely hard to do well in a bathtub at home.
De-shedding
De-shedding is included, not a separate line item. If you have a double-coated dog, this is the appointment that gets the dead undercoat out before it ends up on your floors and furniture.
Houston dogs shed more or less year-round rather than in two clean seasonal blowouts, so double-coated dogs usually do best on a regular schedule rather than waiting until it gets bad.
How often to book one
Most short-coated dogs do well every 4 to 8 weeks. Heavy shedders often want to be closer to every 4 to 6, especially through the hot months. Dogs that swim, dig, or spend real time outside usually need it more often than that.
There's no package to sign up for and no recurring commitment. You book the next one when you want it.
Questions about this
Do you need to use my water or electricity?
No. The van carries its own water and runs on its own power, so nothing is plugged into your house and no hose is needed. All you have to provide is a place to park. Your driveway or the curb out front is fine.
How long does an appointment take?
Most appointments run between one and two hours. A Bath & Brush sits at the shorter end and a Full Groom at the longer end, and bigger dogs take more time than small ones. Matted coats, heavy double coats and puppies on their first visit can run past that, and Courtney will tell you if she expects yours to.
Is de-shedding included or is it extra?
It's included. A brush-out and de-shed is part of both the Bath & Brush and the Full Groom, so it isn't a separate charge.
Do I need to be home the whole time?
You need to be there to hand your dog over and to take them back at the end, but you don't need to stand outside in between. Most people go back inside and get on with their day. If you'd rather stay and watch, that's fine too. If your dog settles better knowing you're nearby, say so when you book.
