Courtney Rediker has been grooming dogs professionally for seven years. She trained and certified through PetSmart and spent five years working in a shop before starting Feather Touch, which is now coming up on two years old. Those salon years shaped how she works today.
A busy salon does a good job for most dogs. Some dogs need more than a busy room can give them, though: the older ones, the anxious ones, the ones who arrive already worried because of something that happened somewhere else. Courtney kept wanting to slow down for those dogs, and a full appointment book rarely allows it.
Feather Touch is built around that. One dog at a time, in the van, in your driveway. Your dog comes out for their appointment and goes straight back inside when it's finished, with no crate and no waiting room in between.
Senior dogs are her specialty and the part of the job she loves most. Older dogs need more breaks, more patience, and someone paying attention to which hip is stiff and how long they can comfortably stand. That is hard to offer with five more dogs waiting. It is simple when yours is the only one.
She feels the same way about the dogs other groomers would rather pass on. Courtney's patience with a difficult dog runs deeper than most, and so far she has not met one she could not work with. It usually just takes going slower than a packed schedule allows. There is a line, and she will tell you honestly if a dog reaches it, though almost none do.
Seven years in, she has groomed a lot of doodles, a lot of double coats and a lot of terriers, along with plenty of ordinary family dogs who need a bath, their nails done, and the shedding brought under control before it takes over the house.
The van
The van is fully self-contained. It carries its own water and runs on its own power, which means nothing gets plugged into your house, no hose is needed, and no dog gets bathed in your bathroom.
There are no crates in it. Your dog is on the table being worked on or they are back inside with you, and there is no in-between where they sit waiting in a box. That is the part older dogs and anxious dogs notice most.
It's also why this works for people in apartments, condos and townhomes who don't have a yard or an outdoor spigot to bathe a dog with. All that's needed is somewhere to park.

I had a wonderful experience with this groomer. She came to my home, which already made the process much less stressful for my dog. My dog was very scared and anxious at first, but she was incredibly patient, calm, and kind throughout the entire visit.

Feather touch mobile grooming was cost effective and perfect. The Husband drives the roomy van and it is about 6’ tall inside. They have a hydraulic table for the dog that is comfortable and emotionally safely pampered. The dogs take turns one at a time. The wife was a dog groomer for five years before the husband bought the van. The dog is assessed and trimmed perfectly. Then the dog is washed and dried, smelling amazing. Our dog is thirteen years old, and doesn’t like cages like almost all use. There is no cage, two doors are open or slightly open for ventilation.
The husband is very nice and his wife came into our home, because our dog wanted to go back to their van. lol. The van was parked right next to our driveway. This was cost effective, efficient, and full of love with our dog. If possible we will use this service as long as our dog lives. I literally love this company and highly recommend them. They come to you on time and ready, and your pet is treated so nice, you will wish you are a dog.
