Grooming without spending a day on it

The Energy Corridor runs on long workdays. Most households here aren't short on money to spend on a groomer. They're short on the two-trip afternoon a traditional groomer requires.

That's the entire pitch for mobile grooming here. You book a time, the van shows up, and an hour or two later your dog is clean. Nobody takes a half day, and nobody drives anywhere.

You don't need to be home for the whole appointment either. Plenty of clients let Courtney know they'll be inside on a call and to knock when she's done.

Trail dogs

A lot of dogs out here get walked and run along Terry Hershey and the bayou trails, which means a lot of dogs who come home genuinely dirty rather than just dusty: mud in the feet, burrs in the coat, and in the wet months, bayou smell.

That's a Bath & Brush appointment, and the part that matters is the drying. A thick coat that gets washed and then air-dries in Houston humidity stays damp at the skin for hours and smells again within a few days. Getting it blown out properly is most of the work and most of the difference.

Questions from Energy Corridor clients

Do you need to use my water or electricity?

No. The van carries its own water and runs on its own power, so nothing is plugged into your house and no hose is needed. All you have to provide is a place to park. Your driveway or the curb out front is fine.

Do I need to be home the whole time?

You need to be there to hand your dog over and to take them back at the end, but you don't need to stand outside in between. Most people go back inside and get on with their day. If you'd rather stay and watch, that's fine too. If your dog settles better knowing you're nearby, say so when you book.

Is there a trip fee or a minimum for coming to me?

No. Every address in the service area is the same price, whether you're in Alief or out in Richmond. There's no trip charge, no fuel surcharge and no minimum spend.

How long does an appointment take?

Most appointments run between one and two hours. A Bath & Brush sits at the shorter end and a Full Groom at the longer end, and bigger dogs take more time than small ones. Matted coats, heavy double coats and puppies on their first visit can run past that, and Courtney will tell you if she expects yours to.
